How to write a clear car listing
Help buyers understand the actual vehicle with useful photographs, exact specifications and an honest condition description.
Write a specific title
Use the make, model and year rather than a string of sales slogans. Fill in the mileage, fuel and gearbox fields consistently with the description. If a detail is uncertain, say so and check it before publishing. A title cannot replace the specification fields buyers use to compare vehicles.
Photograph the car as it is
Use current photographs from the front, rear and sides, plus the cabin and dashboard. Add clear views of disclosed wear or damage. Avoid showing unrelated people or private documents. Do not use stock photographs that could make another vehicle look like the one for sale.
Keep the offer current
Explain known defects, recent work and included equipment. State the asking price and where a viewing can be arranged. When the price or availability changes, update this listing instead of publishing duplicates. Mark the vehicle sold when the transaction is complete so buyers do not keep contacting you.
Your viewing checklist
- Specifications match the description.
- Photos show the actual car and its wear.
- Price and availability are current.
