Comparing service quotes beyond the headline price
Put competing quotes into the same simple table so missing work, materials and delivery conditions become visible.
Compare the same task in every quote
Use your original request as the reference and make rows for each required result. Copy the provider’s wording about what is included, excluded and still to be inspected. For a website update, separate the pages to change, supplied text and images, mobile layout and publication. A cheaper quote may cover a smaller task; ask instead of assuming.
Make price and changes explicit
Record the currency, whether the price is fixed or estimated and any separately stated material or travel charges. Ask how additional work would be described and approved before it starts. Do not treat a blank field as “included” or an estimate as a final total. Keep the written answer with the relevant quote so comparisons remain consistent.
Agree how completion will be checked
Write down the expected delivery date, what you will receive and the checks you will perform together. For a website task, this might mean opening the agreed pages on mobile and desktop and checking their links. Ask who handles a missed item and what any follow-up includes. Confirm one clear scope and keep later changes attached to it.
