Used Android phones: model, software and account checks
A familiar brand name is only the start. Check the exact Android device, its connections and the seller’s reset preparations.
Ask for the model code
Phones with similar names can have different storage, SIM arrangements or regional versions. Ask the seller to read the model information from Settings. Compare it with the manufacturer’s documentation for the features you need. Check the installed software version and look up support for that exact model; the brand alone does not establish remaining update support.
Test connection and handling
Arrange a permitted call or connection test without exposing the seller’s private messages. Check Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with an accessory, microphone, fingerprint reader if set up for a test, and the charging cable fit. Inspect the camera glass and buttons. Do not install an unknown diagnostic app supplied through a private download link.
Let the owner prepare the reset
A reset removes data and may require account verification during setup. Ask the owner to back up their information and follow their manufacturer’s sale or transfer instructions. Confirm the device can be set up for a new owner before completing the exchange. Never collect passwords, recovery codes or copies of someone’s account screen.
