Compare asking prices before listing a used item
Build a small set of genuinely comparable listings and record how condition, accessories and currency affect the comparison.
Choose comparable items first
Search for the same model, capacity or dimensions and similar condition. Record a few relevant listings with their date, asking price, currency and included items. Separate damaged products, unused products and large bundles from an ordinary used example. If too few comparable listings exist, describe the sample as limited instead of presenting it as a market-wide price.
Make differences visible
Compare amounts in the same currency; if you convert, record the rate source and date. Add the known cost of essential missing accessories only when you have a real quote. Note repairs, warranty evidence and collection constraints without inventing a fixed premium for them. A simple table is more useful than averaging listings for different products.
Treat asking prices as asking prices
A published price is an offer, not proof that a transaction happened at that amount. An item disappearing from search does not prove it sold. Set a price you can explain from your item’s condition, then review genuine enquiries and comparable new listings. Update your existing listing when details change rather than creating multiple copies of the same offer.
Your viewing checklist
- Comparable model and condition selected.
- Currency and included items recorded.
- Asking prices are not presented as completed sales.
