Used tablets and styluses: check compatibility before buying
A tablet-and-pen bundle is useful only if the exact models work together and suit the apps you plan to use.
Identify both model generations
Ask for the tablet’s model code and the pen’s full name, not just the brand. Similar-looking pens may use different pairing or charging methods. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility information for that combination. For Apple devices, use the official Pencil compatibility guidance rather than assuming every Pencil works with every iPad.
Try your real writing task
With the owner’s permission, open a suitable drawing or notes app and draw slow lines near the edges as well as the centre. Try handwriting, erasing and the features the seller claims are supported. Inspect the pen tip and test charging. An accessory attaching magnetically does not, by itself, prove all advertised pen functions work.
Compare the complete bundle
List the keyboard, case, adapters and spare tips actually included. Check the tablet’s storage and the condition of its charging port. Compare bundles with the same accessories and condition, allowing for missing items you would need to obtain. Keep account-transfer arrangements separate from any promise about included paid apps or subscriptions.
