Used game console checklist: model, disc drive and connections
Confirm the console edition and try the hardware functions you need before valuing a bundle of games and accessories.
Check the exact edition
Ask for the model code, storage and whether a disc drive is present. Similar console names can refer to different hardware editions. Compare included power and display cables with the model requirements. Do not price digital games on the seller’s account as if they were automatically transferable items; verify the platform’s current terms for any claimed entitlement.
Run an agreed demonstration
Use a compatible screen and a game the owner is allowed to run. Try the controller connection, image, sound and network connection where available. For a disc model, ask the owner to demonstrate a compatible disc. Note unusual noise, connection failures and functions you cannot test. Keep ventilation clear and do not open the console during the viewing.
Agree the final package
List each physical game, controller and cable separately, including disclosed faults. The seller should prepare personal data and account removal using the manufacturer’s official instructions. Check that the new owner can complete the intended setup. Keep your own passwords private and do not accept someone else’s account credentials as a substitute for a clean handover.
